Useful Tips:

• Document Backup: We strongly recommend keeping a photo or digital copy of your passport and visa in the cloud (Google Drive, iCloud) or in your email. This drastically speeds up the replacement process in case of theft or loss.
• Appointments: Please note that most embassies operate strictly on an appointment-only basis for administrative tasks. Only critical emergencies (life or death situations) are usually handled without a prior appointment.
• Transportation to Guatemala City: All embassies are located in Guatemala City. Due to heavy traffic and complex directions, the most comfortable and safest way to travel is by hiring a private shuttle or using ride-sharing apps like Uber. Plan for at least 1.5 to 2 hours of travel time to arrive on time.

⏰ Public Service Hours

Most diplomatic missions in Guatemala City maintain strict morning hours for in-person services:

• Monday to Thursday: Generaly from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
• Friday: Often close earlier (between 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM).
• Afternoons: Internal administrative work only (usually by confirmed appointment only).

⚠️ NOTE: Embassies are closed on Guatemalan public holidays AND also on the public holidays of their own country.
